Research:

• Mentored 12 students from high school to graduate students

• Shared our current research efforts on the local news and a podcast

Teaching:

• Completed Teaching Diverse Learners course at Duke

• Individualize teaching for each class. For example, I created additional videos for a discussion section to provide more examples to watch (see here).

Outreach:

• Leading SciMatch volunteering event at local middle school

• Secured the Maclin fund for Duke MRS to bring hands-on maglev demonstrations to elementary students

• Awarded the Dean’s Award for Inclusive Excellence in Graduate Education as a board leader on EASE (ECE graduate student organization)

• Member of the Shared Materials Instrumentation Facility outreach team (see us at an elementary school science night here)

Recruitment:

• Pratt School of Engineering DEIC Recruitment and Retention Subcommitee

• Co-founded the Duke Engineering Graduate Ambassadors program, which is aimed at pairing Duke graduate students with prospective students to guide them through the graduate school application process

• Attended 2023 SHPE conference with the Duke Engineering recruitment team

• Assisted with the 2024 Duke Pratt Graduate School Bootcamp
